Make the Spares Available for TVS-Suzuki Two-Strokes
The Issue
Biking is not just another hobby or a recreational activity, It goes beyond that. For decades, Indians, through the small capacity machines have enjoyed Biking, largely & mostly due to the Two Strokes. The legendary Two Strokes dominated almost all spheres of Biking, Off-Road & On-Road. Be a college going youngster or a working professional, two strokes suited almost all the needs. The era of memorable rides.
It was the sheer power & amazing ride-build quality that made them so attractive. One felt the adrenaline rush in as the throttle was twisted & be younger once again. Two Strokes were a major hit till the early 2000s. Whenever a movie flick, or any scene for that matter, needed a "Motorbike Sequence", it was the Two Strokes that came to the rescue. They can be easily spotted in the archives. Then came the Pollution Norms that hit the Two Strokes. They were even vanquished from the International MotoGp Circuit. Riders mourned for an Era of Glorious biking. The Pollution control norms wiped out an entire era.
However, this did not demotivate the Strokers (Two Stroke Enthusiasts). They kept the legends alive, be it from the Suzuki or Yamaha. They kept it close to their chest, cared for them to be passed onto the next generation. The Strokers, like the Templar Knights protected the Two Stroke legacy. It was the availability of spares that helped them do so. However, with the diminishing Spares, more & more Strokers have to part with their prized possession or have to keep it standing. In worst case scenario, these wonderful machines who have seen the glory days are sent off to the ScrapYards for a chopping fate of scrapping.
I, Himanshu (HeMan) came to know the Two Stroke bikes since I was a college going teenager, but the dwindling popularity in my city & the fewer service centres of Two Stroke Motorbikes, I could not pursue this dream. However, once I changed my city due to my professional demands, I came in contact with the Strokers & the dream started to flower within me. I met this this whole new & big community of Strokers, the Suzuki Shogun Lovers Club, Bangalore, a wonderful group of Strokers who gladly accepted me into their Brotherhood.
I finally purchased a pre-owned Suzuki Shogun & immediately fell in love with the machine (despite being fooled in the process of buying it).
Sourcing the Spares for these beasts of a bygone era is the biggest problem & a headache for all the Strokers. The struggle, patience & efforts that these folks put in, to get spares is commendable & the joy of receiving a spare is beyond words. Then there are PREMIUM SELLERS (the rip-offs), who sell the spares at a sky-high price. Most of all, its the Premium sellers reaping benefits from this situation, that are keeping Strokers from getting their Guns restored. Then there are people who take advantage of this situation & try to fool the newbies, such as me.
I believe that if Suzuki started making the Spares available for these wonderful machines, it can rekindle the dreams of a lot many people & the gratitude would be beyond words. It would not only re-cement the Glorious days of Suzuki but also help in the upkeep of these motorbikes. It can help to establish Suzuki as a Manufacturer that Cares.
Through this Petition, I can only ask Suzuki for their co-operation in helping to keep the Dream Alive for many Strokers out there.
