Refund or Replace cards thats does not work and gets declined, and or has the wrong amount of $ when bought.

The Issue

Vanilla Prepaid Cards - Mastercard & Visa has been robbing people as far back as 2009. (what i found in my searches maybe even earlier) .

Is it that a company as big such as Vanilla Prepaid is untouchable?. Is it that they can act like cowboys in the wild west and rob and steal witth no re percussions?

They still continue to do business in Canada with no clear sight of every giving consumers what they pay for.

Here is my story and i can assure you there are 1000s of others i found on various blogs, Forums, Yahoo Answers and websites.

Normally one would expect robbers to be someone in a dark room hacking away at at a computer to get stolen Credit Card information, or a guy dressed with a ski mask over his face.. hmm wait how about a guy following you down a dark alley "not suggesting you actually walk down a dark alley to find out" , but VANILLA PREPAID MASTERCARD & VISA? not very likely. Vanilla Mastercard and Visa are highly reputable companies. WRONG.

I purchased 2 Vanilla Visa cards yesterday, Monday February 24th 2014 at around 12 noon EST, i live in Montreal Canada. The card was to make a purchase of some car parts in Toronto Canada about 6 hours away. The cards are normally activated in store, and can be used after about an hour. I waited 3 hours just to be sure and i called the parts shop in toronto excited to pay and get my parts. Part shop guy "Sorry Sir your card is declined" now i'm confused "Declined are you sure" i asked, "yes Sir im sure you have to call your Credit Card company".

Dealing with Vanilla Prepaid

I called Customer Service on the back of the card to ask why a new card with a balance of $250 would be declined for $250 (no there are no other fees that would make it go over the limit). The agent told me its because its not registered online on their website. That was a simple explanation. I went ahead and created an account, input my information. waiitttt!!! its a prepaid Visa card, isn't the whole point is to be easy to use, no personal information is needed, you buy you use you throw away. Hmmmmm i again called the Parts Shop ... "piece of cake Rob all i had to do was register online" had a small laugh " Sorry Sir your card is still declined" Still cool at a cucumber i called back Visa Customer Service, they said they didn't see my online registration so i should do it with them over the phone... "First and Last Name", "Date of Birth", "Address", Phone Number.. waitttttttt!!!!! for a Pre Paid card i'm using one time and throw away?. Gave them the information. Called back Rob.."Sorry Sir card is still declined". Now Rob is getting annoyed of this guy calling him every 20 minutes to give him a card thats declined. "Sir can you call back tomorrow we are pretty busy" "Ok Rob".

COMMENT: I believe Vanilla Prepaid is data mining every day people. A database of shoppers buying pre paid cards, Full Name, Date of Birth, Address, Phone number. Thats enough information to view your credit history and employment information to later offer you products or information may be sold to other third party. There is NO reason why a prepaid card thats not loadable needs to be linked with your personal information. So you throw this card away and and then what? would you throw away you actual Visa card? .

Day 2

10am the 25th i called back Visa Customer Service. They said the guy (Rob) was not entering the information correctly and the card could not be verified, ask him to try the card again because over here everything is peachy.

"Hey Rob how you doing bro, i called back to pay for my parts" "Sorry Sir the card is declined" now i starting to get annoyed. I called back Visa Customer Service. They said they didn't see any transactions on the account of the card being declined. The guy i spoke to suggested i go back to the Pharmacy where i bought the cards.

After work 5pm i went back to the store, asked for a supervisor and was directed to a very nice young Indian Lady. I explained to her the problems i have been having with the cards. I called Visa Customer Service AGAIN to say im at the store so they should talk to the supervisor. They were on the phone for about 45 minutes after escalation after escalation , and after being on hold several times. The supervisor finally took the call she we should try the card there. Tried manually entering the numbers like Rob "Declined". She then said it will only work by swipe, The store lady swiped it " Declined", She then said "they" the pharmacy Shoppers Drug Mart (Pharmaprix "in Quebec", approx: 1,250 pharmacy's in canada, and a couple billion in sales) was not verifying the card properly thats why its declined, and went as far to say that Rob also was not doing it the right way also thats why its declined there also.  She basically called 2 people incompetent.

After 1 1/2 hours the supervisor at Visa Prepaid said she will try re activating the cards to see if it would work, again i'm on hold yessss, "Ok i have re activated try using it" .. Store lady entered it manually "Declined", she then swiped it and it worked. At this point i just want a refund because it cant work for what i bought it for, my parts in Toronto. It only works in store. Why the hell would i buy a pre paid Visa pay $250 + $7.50 activation fee to use in store? . Now the Visa Prepaid Supervisor then said "well it says in our Terms and Conditions that the cards are non refundable, in our system it says active so i can suggest to try it in another store for something else", really?

Conclusion

After everything, i have 2 cards that i ca only walk into a store to swipe it to make a purchase, and cant use it by no other means. Uhhhhh why is Visa and Mastercard so populer? waittt ohhh i forgot, to walk or drive all over the world to swipe your card in the stores.

THANK YOU ROBBERS, VANILLA VISA & MASTERCARD. I HAD A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS I DID'NT NEED. I JUST FELT LIKE FEEDING THE RICH.
