Being that they are so motivated, Vanderbilt students are naturally very busy. Munchie Marts are a wonderfully convenient option for students, allowing them to grab food on-the-go and eat while in class, studying, or on the way to meetings and classes. Limiting Munchie Mart swipes to once per day inhibits students from having this option. While the intention of this policy is to build community, Vanderbilt students already value the community on campus, thus it is unnecessary to do so during mealtimes. Many students enjoy eating at restaurants on the Taste of Nashville program and then use their swipe to pick up snacks for later. If they have already used a swipe at a Munchie Mart that day and then eat off campus, they will be forced to forfeit their swipe completely, throwing away the money they have already paid for the meal plan. Taking away multiple Munchie swipes per day will cause longer lines in dining halls, preventing some students from being able to eat at all in between their classes. Being that classes have not begun yet and there already is widespread backlash against this policy change, I feel confident that the entire student body would appreciate reversion back to the old Munchie Mart swiping policy.
