The Vancouver City Council did not prioritize Mount Pleasant Pool in its Mid-Term Funding review in the summer of 2024, and even existing recreation projects such as the renewal of Britannia and West End and Marpole's outdoor pool have faced delays due to inadequate funding. We are therefore urging the Vancouver Board of Parks & Recreation, Mayor, and City Council to allocate FULL funding for Mount Pleasant Pool in the 2027-2030 Capital Plan. The City of Vancouver's population is growing but adequate recreational facilities are lagging behind. A full-size outdoor pool can be built for $20 million which is only a fraction of Vancouver's Capital Budget (about 4 Billion). Where will we cool off in the summer?
