My name is "Bumb1ebe" and I would like to make a statement on behalf of georgian Dota 2 community
First of all, I've always loved playing Dota 2 and I think it's had a great influence on mine and other people's lives, but there's one thing that's been bothering me and the majority of our community. That is the region lock which valve's implemented on steam servers. It narrows the area of players that we can interract with during the matches and 90% of them are russians. This has led to frustration that almost every one of us from Georgia experience every day playing this game. I personally had almost quit the game and started playing League of Legends instead. The reason of this frustration is the toxicity, agression and ignorance from Russian community.
I remember the "good old days" when choosing Europe East or Europe West ment something while playing Dota, but now it only gets me playing with russian people and if I don't want to play in my region I have to choose American servers, wich means higher ping and unplayable matches.
That's just for us, but I'm sure there are some countries with same problems as ours. I think it's just unfair. We could easily play on europe servers 2-3 years ago without any problem. Why can't we go back to the days which gave us freedom of choice, choice to play with whomever we wanted?
I, as an individual wonder what could possibly go wrong if we all could choose our preferred server to play on and have as much fun as possible? I believe that is the fundamental quality that a game must have.
I ask you humbly to take this matter seriously and I hope that you come up with solution to this problem soon.
