When planning permission was given for a major development around the old Beecham headquarters on the Great West Road in Brentford – a development known as Great West Quarter – provision was made out of S106 allocations for the extension of the 235 bus route to serve this development. The extended route also provides a much-needed service for the people who live up Ealing Road and in the large Clayponds Estate. They have no other bus services that take them in the direction of Hounslow town centre or to many of the Borough’s secondary schools, very important destinations for Borough residents.

The 235 route is much appreciated when it is running, however it has really lamentable reliability. A local resident estimates that it has been in service for 77 days in the last 14 months, set against 336 days when it has not! This is due to problems accessing the terminus within GWQ.
