Hey guys,

The reason I started this petition is because my local congressman Chris Stewart and his legislative staff has been working on this exact proposal for close to six months when I asked for an update in April his office stated that they're working on it but it's all about timing.

I quickly emailed his office back and said it's sexual assault awareness month.. How is it not the right time? And shared the link to this petition. There response was unnerving but not shocking. They requested I remove the congressman from my petition this was the full email....

Paul,

While I applaud your efforts I am going to have to ask you to take Congressman Stewart’s name off the petition. Congressman Stewart has not made a statement in support of the objective. This would be premature and could reflect badly upon the Congressman. Let’s take one step at a time. Thank you for your understanding.

End email

Why would he not publicly back the petition that he has had his Washington DC legislative staff working on the legislation to effect this change for nearly 6 months?

The reason sexual assault will never truly be delt with is because it's not something they can gain political points on.
