In May, the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena is hosting the Tripoli Shrine Circus. We want UWM to know that we do NOT support the circus and that we want them to cancel the show.

The Tripoli circus is not a cruelty-free circus. Animals forced to perform in circuses aren’t trained to do confusing, uncomfortable, and even frightening tricks with food treats alone. They live under the constant threat of the bullhook—a sharp steel-tipped weapon resembling a fireplace poker—or whip. Circus trainers exploit the animals’ natural desire to avoid pain to make them balance on balls, spin on pedestals, walk on two legs, and ride bicycles.

The Shrine circuses have relied on Carson & Barnes to supply animals for their shows. The animals often live in filthy trailers and do not receive the medical or humane care that they deserve.
