The Issue

With the number of COVID-19 cases on the rise and community transmission already beginning in some states, it is becoming increasingly risky for students to travel from various parts of the country to give examinations.

For students studying in colleges affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University, the risk is high as well.

Holding examination during this time seems a foolhardy decision that risks students' lives.

We students ask you a few imperative questions that are concerned with the safety of students travelling as well as during the conduct of examinations:

  1. With flight prices increasing, not many students cannot afford flights. Train travels are increasingly risky, especially for students in far off states. What provisions are being made for travel and welfare of students?
  2. For students that are traveling, it's very likely that they might get infected by someone. What provisions are being made to provide treatment(including hospital expenditure) for these students?
  3. If a student tests positive, what provisions are there to help the student answer the examination in the future?
  4. What accomodation provisions are being made for the 14 day quarantine period for travelling students?
  5. UGC has allowed the universities to use different modes of examination, including but not limited to: MCQ based test, Open Book Test, Online exam. What mode of examination is the university opting for and why?

Addendum:

  1. A few students also belong to neighbouring countries like Bhutan and Nepal. Because or border restrictions, these students have no means of travelling into India to give exams.

In the interest of safety of students, I request the concerned authorities to answer these queries as soon as possible.
