Unpleasant Odour & Foul Smell from Haldiram Factories in Sector 67 & 68 Noida, UP, India
Unpleasant Odour & Foul Smell from Haldiram Factories in Sector 67 & 68 Noida, UP, India
The Issue
Signees of this petition agree that there is a public health concern of odour resulting from the functioning of food processing units at Haldiram Snacks Pvt. Ltd. In Noida Sector 68 and Sector 67, and demand actions from local and state agencies or representatives to assess the offensiveness of the odour.
We the people of Sector 68, Noida (DS Road), U.P., India, while working in different office(s), very often face this issue when an unpleasant foul odour creates disturbance in our daily routines. Most of the times we feel as if this foul odor is coming from within the office premises until you go outside and realize it is just as strong. We have experienced frequently that such an unpleasant odour releases from the food processing factories like the Haldiram’s plant in sectors 67 and 68, and the foul odour persists in the environment for the long period.
Therefore, we demand that there should be a control of emissions from the factory’s manufacturing or mixing units. The state or local agencies should conduct a health risk assessment by evaluating subjective sensory olfactory response of observers. The nature of unpleasant odours, frequency of the odours releasing from the processing units, and the persistence of the odours in the environment should be assessed by the agencies to determine the potential offensiveness of these unpleasant odours to the public health. The meteorological conditions of Sector 68 should also be assessed for measuring the dispersion of the unpleasant odour effects.
The main goal of this online petition is to seek attention, accountability and action against the potential sources of these odour emissions which by and large include
- odours linked with numerous cooking processes;
- odours associated with disposal of waste materials;
- odours arising from different raw materials and its processing.
We urge all of you to sign and share this petition to ensure food processing units like Haldiram’s undertake the indispensable control strategies by use of appropriate process controls. The purpose of raising as many signatures over the next several weeks and months is to emphasize on this growing concern to both the City Council and the Environmental Board in order to compel awareness and action on the issue.
By signing this petition ‘Save our Air’, you’re joining a movement with like-minded people who want to ensure a decision may be taken in our favor and to defend our right to a clean and healthy environment.
Thank you!
