The parking situation at UTRGV for students is atrocious all while the faculty literally have parking lots to spare. Most students have to arrive hours before their class starts just so that they may find parking. Our president fails to acknowledge this these requests for a bigger parking lot and/or a parking garage to be constructed, leaving the threat of students driving ridiculous speeds in the parking lot to try and beat someone to an open parking spot. The students of UTRGV do not ask for much and are grateful for the things that UTRGV continues to give students every year. A big handful of students are first generation college students and most are not in a financial position to buy a vehicle, much less a reliable one. They put their money into this vehicle so that way they can better their lives by further educating themselves. Not only is the parking situation an eminent threat to their money but their education as well. Those signing this ask nothing more than the consideration of a possible new parking lot or parking garage. There are people that attend UTRGV who have connections to or even own construction companies that are very willing to construct these parking lots. Don’t let lack of parking risk people’s education!!
