We have created a group for our fight against this decision. We have 5 members in our group,

Emily O’ Hara Bergeson-Liaison through USU for our group and the Deaf Community

Dereck Hooley-Deaf and a member of the Deaf Community

Mykel Winn- Dereck’s Sister and Media Manager for our group

Justin Bodily- Deaf, Current student of the program

Savannah Sparks- Deaf, planned to enroll in the master’s Program

We have met with the Dean, Al Smith and the chair of the program, Karen Munoz on February 8th, 2021. The meeting went over an hour and half, we were glad that the dean and Karen heard our concerns about the program, they did say that they put the program on suspension. They want to make changes and improvements to the program. They don’t know how long the suspension will be. We did push for them to keep the program open and make improvements as it stays open. We have asked several questions, such as how long the program would be suspended, the accreditations of the program, what the plans are, etc. We have left the meeting on the same page, and they will keep in contact with Emily moving forward.
