The Issue

A student told her school she was going to be attacked. Administrators did nothing. That afternoon, she was attacked.

From 2022 to 2024, an LGBTQ+ student at Payson Junior High in Utah endured years of bullying, threats, and physical intimidation because of her identity. She and her mother reported the abuse to school officials repeatedly. Then in 2024, they reported something specific — another student had threatened to assault her after school that day. School officials were warned. They took no action. The attack happened exactly as reported.

The girl suffered a concussion, a bloody nose, head and neck injuries, and emotional trauma. Her family was ultimately forced to withdraw her from the school entirely for her own safety.

The Nebo School District has not responded to press requests. Their silence speaks clearly enough.

The family's attorney said it plainly: "There was a clear pattern of bullying and harassment, repeated warnings to school officials, and a specific warning that the assailant was planning to attack our client." The lawsuit alleges the district violated both Title IX and federal civil rights law.

This was not an oversight. It was a failure — repeated, documented, and preventable.

Sign this petition to demand the Nebo School District take full accountability for failing to protect an LGBTQ+ student who did everything right and was let down anyway.
