Utah Legislators: Make Utah a hands free state
Drivers who type or read text messages contribute to at least 100,000 crashes each year, leading to thousands of preventable deaths. Drivers using cell phones behind the wheel miss half of the information in their driving environment. Texting while driving increases your chances of a crash by up to 8 to 23 times. Study after study shows the tragic effects of talking and texting on a cell phone while driving. It is time for Utah to join with the 11 other states who have chosen to prohibit all drivers from using hand held cell phone devices while driving. No text or phone call is worth a life.
