As of today, February 24, 2021 we employees have been informed that we must use our vacation time or floating holiday time. This puts an even bigger hardship on the employees as we were not on vacation. We were on standby while we waited for the phone call or message that the hospital would be opening and we needed to report to work. The employees were not given a choice in this matter but were instructed to stay home. Some employees do not have enough time to cover this. Others may not have time due to having to quarantine for COVID without getting the COVID pay because it was not acquired in the hospital setting.

It has already been verified that CTMF provided compensation to their employees for the entire week. The employees at UT have held the standards that we are are a better facility than CTMF. Employees are now faltering their judgement of UT standards towards their employees. This pandemic has put a strain on everyone involved and that is understood but we are a state facility. 

The Governor of Texas, as well as President Biden have declared a state of emergency for Texas, which should provide funding for this situation. One would think that any funds received should be used to compensate the employees paid hourly who are ultimately the ones to suffer. It is expressed by the employees that anyone receiving salary does not advocate for the hourly staff.
