USF: Grant in-state tuition to all eligible students, regardless of citizenship status

USF: Grant in-state tuition to all eligible students, regardless of citizenship status
The Issue
In the state of Florida, thousands of young people are denied access to higher education because they are forced to pay out of state tuition, despite meeting the requirements for in-state tuition. Due to the failure of elected officials to enact immigration reform, undocumented students are must pay out of state tuition, which on average is around 3x more than in state tuition. Fifteen states have already enacted provisions to grant in-state tuition to undocumented students. We can no longer wait for our legislatures to stall on this issue: we need reform now!
Our Board of Trustees has the ability change this, so that students who have graduated from Florida high schools, regardless of citizenship status, can pay in-state tuition and receive the access to education they deserve. Undocumented immigrants pay millions in taxes (including property taxes which fund the universities they are denied from attending due to high cost) and deserve to receive the same rights as other taxpayers.
Ask the USF Board of Trustees and administration to change this, joining FIU and states across the country in granting tuition equity at USF.
