This is a final encouragement for you to vote for Craig Jorgens for MOFD Director if you live in North Orinda and to encourage (email) others you know in North Orinda to do the same. Reaching out individually is how these “minor” races get decided. Jorgens is a signer of this “Orinda Tax Dollars in Orinda” petition. Victoria Smith is not and she has done everything in her power to not address the issue as a member of the City Council. The Contra Costa Times has endorsed Jorgens as a person who is better equipped to deal with MOFD huge pension liability issue. The broader issue of employee compensation (85 percent of MOFD's budget) must also be addressed. MOFD’s revenues have increased more than twice as much as inflation since it was founded and yet we have the same number of emergency responders as we did 20 years ago. All “gains” have gone to increased employee compensation, not expanded services. Who is more likely to deal with this issue? Victoria Smith has been endorsed by the firefighters and they gave her the largest donation of her campaign, $1,000. This was just announced late last week so as to avoid media recognition.
