Last week Ringling Bros announced an end to elephant acts in their circus by 2018. Without the largest circus to hide behind, the smaller circuses and independent elephant handlers face a losing battle. The days when elephants will no longer be used in traveling entertainment draw ever nearer. The next step in this battle, while we continue to protest and fight for elephants like Nosey, is to encourage Shriners International to do away with wild animal acts in their circuses. Without Shrine Circuses taking place across the country, smaller circuses will be forced to shut down and relinquish their animals.
