Dear Friends, Nosey's case was set for a hearing this past Thursday that did not take place. The judge involved, Lawrence County Circuit Judge Mark Craig, has ordered mediation in the case involving the legal issues surrounding the seizure of Nosey that took place last November. The mediation is to be completed within 90 days. Should the case not be resolved by mediation, Judge Craig will then hear the case as a bench trial (meaning a jury will not be involved). The Liebel attorney had asked for a dismissal of the case and for it to be brought to a jury trial if a dismissal was not possible, and they were denied both of these requests. For now, Nosey remains at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, where she is enjoying as natural of a life as is possible and the very best of care. We know many are frustrated by wanting to take action for Nosey. However, sadly, there is no action you can take as this matter will now be decided by the court system, which will not be influenced by voices outside those involved with her case. If you have questions about Nosey's case, we encourage you to read through the other updates we have made to this petition, as we have provided a thorough and detailed summary of Nosey's situation via these regular updates for the last three years. The best way to ensure that Nosey and NO animal suffers inside the circus is to continue to protest the circus, work toward passing local laws in your community, and spread awareness about circus cruelty with your family and friends. At CWI, we fight against circus cruelty every single day. Please visit cwint.org/donate to continue to support our work and to stand beside us as we fight for Nosey, Anna Louise, Bo, Isa, and Carol, and numerous other elephants still suffering behind the big top. Thank you once again for all of your actions for Nosey, your vigilance in notifying us when you have seen her or any traveling performing animal, and for supporting CWI in our efforts to put an end to circus cruelty once and for all. We will continue to keep this petition open and active until Nosey's life in sanctuary is secured forever.
