Hi Everyone, My dad and I are planning a trip to Washington, D.C. from April 9th to 13th to meet with members of Congress and their staff. Matt Zeller and others at No One Left Behind will be helping us lobby members of Congress to assist with Muhammad and his family's case. Matt recommended trying to set up as many meetings with Congressional offices as possible, and he is optimistic about getting the case approved once we get more support from Congress. Thank you to all of you who have contacted members of Congress already. A few Congressional offices have already expressed a willingness to help with the case. If you have been in touch with a Congressional office that you think would be willing to meet with us, please email me (save.aysha@gmail.com) so I can send you information on how to fill out the online form to request a meeting. You DO NOT have to be able to travel to DC to ask your representatives to meet with us on your behalf. Any member of Congress can help, but there are a handful who are especially dedicated to helping interpreters. If you are living in any of the following states or districts it would be great if you could help us request a meeting with your member of Congress (or their staff): Sen. Tammy Duckworth (Illinois) Sen. John McCain (Arizona) Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire) Rep. Seth Moulton (MA-6) Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) Rep. Duncan Hunter (CA-50) If you can help, please email me (save.aysha@gmail.com) and I will share a template with you to request a meeting. Muhammad was recently badly injured when he was attacked by armed robbers after fleeing his house to avoid a military raid. He is not only hiding from the Taliban but also living as an illegal refugee in a foreign country. We are thankful that Muhammad is recovering from his injuries but this underscores the critical danger he and his family are facing. The picture is of Aysha, Muhammad's two-year-old daughter. When our lawyer pressed USCIS to at least allow Muhammad's young daughters to come live with their aunt and uncle in the US, USCIS responded by individually blacklisting the kids as well. So our government is claiming that they are justified in leaving Aysha and her sisters to be killed despite having an aunt and uncle willing to care for them in the US because they claim the kids are a threat to national security. Thus, our government has now denied one-year visas to both a military hero and his two-year-old daughter on national security grounds. Thank you for helping us fight for justice for this family, Kristy
