Online classes for the remainder of the semester at USC should be P/NP

The Issue

It appears as though USC will transition to online classes for the remainder of the semester.  This is unfortunate, but necessary in response to the coronavirus outbreak.  One issue with this, however, is how it will impact the quality of our education.  Without in person classes, office hours, proctored exams, and other elements lost to online classes, there is a huge change to how our classes are operated.  Because of this, all students should be given the option to make their classes P/NP this semester, regardless of typical requirements.  Most classes currently offered online are defaulted to P/NP, likely because of the difficulties mentioned above.  It would not be fair to impact the GPAs of students based on classes that will not operate like normal classes.  Instead we should focus on preserving as much of the educational quality as possible, and not focus on giving out grades.

Note: students should be allowed to opt out if they believe having grades is advantageous to them
