Make the Gender Ratio for Mixed Ultimate Truly Equitable

The Issue

In mixed-gender ultimate, the default ratio of male-matching to female-matching players has always been 4:3. Attempts have been made to make this more equitable, including listing the ratio as 3:3 and allowing one team (originally the team on offense, now whichever team starts the point in a pre-determined endzone) to decide wether the 7th player was a female- or male-matching player.

We think there is a better solution: force the gender ratio to remain the same for the entire first half, and use the opposite ratio for the second half. By the nature of the sport, some halves will end up longer than others (for example, a team getting shut out in the first half, but going point-for-point in the second) but there is a simple remedy for that. While captains flip pre-game to determine who gets the disc, which endzone to start in, jersey colors, etc, they will also flip to determine the gender ratio of the first (and subsequent) half. Instead of having one team decide the ratio, it will be determined entirely by the coin flip.
