Unemployment is currently at 9.1%, statistically the top 1% of Americans are doing better than before the recession as the rest of America is still hurting and there are currently no jobs related bills coming out of Congress. A 10-year 2% tax increase on those making $1 million per year or more with which the new revenues would be applied directly to job-creation and pro-growth measures and would have minimal impact on their incomes. We never paid for the Bush tax cuts and many millionaires and billionaires have expressed the desire to pay more taxes to help deal with our current economic situation. Unfortunately some in Congress have pledged to never increase taxes. If we could get millionaires and billionaires to sign this petition and send it to the desk of any member of Congress against tax increases along with legislation proposing the temporary increase we could persuade them into doing the right thing and it would make it politically safer for them as those being taxed more would be requesting the increase. And since the targeted spending would come from these new revenues that previously didn't exist it would not be a "spending increase." This is the only way we can get the revenue increases we desperately need.
