In the last 15 years, the incidence of autism and autism related disorders has increased to epidemic proportions, and no one knows why... and no one knows how to stop the spread or cure those afflicted. Now, right now these children require a special education that most are not receiving, They have medical needs that are not covered by insurance. In the next 5 to 10 years a huge population of autistic children will be adults. What then? We need to train this population to be productive members of society, Our already overburdened social security system needs to plan for the fact that many of these individuals will be considered disabled and will need to collect social security, and receive medicare or medicaid to survive. These people are special, they are valuable and through no fault of their own they have aquired this disorder. They need us to help them. It is our duty as a nation, as human beings to do so.
