Why are so many children living in poverty in the United States?

The Issue

The United States has among the highest child poverty rates of any developed economy. Child poverty is an epidemic problem in the United States, and we must look within our communities to find ways as parents, educators, and citizens to eradicate and minimized the harm to our children. Poverty can hinder children’s ability to learn and contribute to social, emotional, and behavioral problems. Children who are poor are less likely to achieve milestones that increase the probability of success in the future, such as graduating from high school and attending college.

With this petition, I hope to raise awareness and reach out those in power to commit to improving the lives of low-income families and their children.
