The cause

Arizona Border Patrol utilizes K-9 units at multiple checkpoints. The Southern Arizona Border often has temperatures upwards of 110 degrees Fahrenheit. According to research studies, air temperatures of 95 degrees equates to 120-140 degrees on black top pavement due to heat trapping. At 125 degrees for 60 seconds or more, skin damage can occur - including the paws of these dogs. These dogs do not currently have adequate protection for their paws! Please consider signing this petition for these working animals to be treated more humanely.
