Palestinian prisoners are again on hunger strike. The International Committee for the Red Cross has expressed serious concern for prisoners who are reportedly in critical conditional and nearing death. 

The United Nations Convention Against Torture prohibits state actors from exercising cruel and unusual forms of punishment. Human rights organizations have reported that Israel has deliberately subjected Palestinian prisoners to cruel and inhumane conditions, including beatings, medical neglect, repeated strip searches (including child prisoners), solitary confinement, and sleep deprivation.
