Save the tigers!

The Issue

In a little over a century, we've lost 97% of our global tiger population. In the 1980s, three tiger subspecies, the Bali, Javan and Caspian tigers, became extinct

Today, less than 4,000 tigers are estimated to remain in the wild. However, tiger populations are steadily increasing or stable in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Russia, and China. Although this is great progress, in much of Southeast Asia, the tiger population is declining and in a state of crisis.

The dwindling numbers of the tiger population can be attributed to the crossfire tiger trade and environmental decline. Despite being illegal, wild tigers are still being poached today because their whiskers, bones, and other body parts can be sold for a lot of money. Furthermore, tigers must compete with humans for land. Tigers frequently lose their habitats to the deforestation caused by humans.

It is clear there is much more work needed to protect this endangered species. We need to secure the future of wild tigers.

Let's fight against tiger trade and deforestation!
