End domestic terrorism in Ethiopia

Thousands of Ethiopian diaspora like myself have a story to tell about the brutal regime of the TPLF (Tigray People’s Liberation Front) that ruled Ethiopia since 1991. More recently, stories of Ethiopia being on the brink of civil war may come as a shock to the general public, but it’s a reality Ethiopian citizens and diaspora have been living on the cusp of for many years.

Recently, military personnel were ambushed while asleep, tortured and murdered by TPLF mutineers, special forces and militia at various Northern Command bases in the Tigray region. This event triggered a law enforcement operation by the Ethiopian government to bring those responsible to justice and to defend and uphold the rule of law in areas under TPLF control. Sadly due to a coordinated misinformation campaign, funded by the spoils of 30 years of corruption, this mission has been intentionally misrepresented globally as one against the Tigrayan people.

As the Ethiopian diaspora globally we are keen to see a peaceful resolution to this conflict where the rights of all Ethiopian citizens are upheld.  In order to do this, the TPLF and its proxies must be brought to justice for their crimes of domestic terrorism.

We are calling on the international community to uphold it’s duty to support law and order in Ethiopia and to refrain from engaging in dialogue with such actors who wish to destabilize our country.
They can do this by:

  1. Showing international support to capture and bring to justice TPLF and its affiliates for crimes of domestic terrorism in Ethiopia, ensuring they are not granted impunity for past crimes.
  2. To refrain from publicly commenting on the ongoing situation in Ethiopia without accessing accurate information from reliable sources.
  3. Freeze assets and funds of members and affiliates of the TPLF until thorough investigations are carried out.
