Give Seniors and Super Seniors one more year!

Give Seniors and Super Seniors one more year!
The Issue
Everyone has been impacted differently with this pandemic that has come of us. Our daily lives have either been stopped completely or taken a turn for the worse. I have been an Allstar cheerleader for 10 years and I am currently on Louisiana Cheer Force Gold an XS Coed 6. This sport has impacted my life tremendously. After reading comments and suggestions on Twitter from many other competitive cheerleading athletes, I wanted to make our opinions heard. USASF has recently released an age extension for senior teams. Making most seniors and super seniors eligible for another year. Unfortunately for some athletes, like myself, will not get the chance for another full season. The end of our 19-20 season is unknown, and many gyms have already taken action to end their season in response to COVID-19. We missed out on many practices, competitions, and moments with our teammates/ coaches without any knowledge of what was going to take place. Many seniors will be going off to college, but the rest of us would love another chance at a full cheerleading season. The remainder of this season was out of everyone's control, but it can be made right by granting eligibility to those athletes aging out one more year. I feel like this point we are getting false hope and we want action. It puts us all in a very hard situation because as cheerleaders we want our family and friends safe as well, but everytime a cheerleader tries to voice their opinion online, hate is received. Comments are then made that there's more to life than cheerleading and that we need to move on. We just want the opportunity to end our cheerleading career the right way. Many of us have sacrificed so much for cheerleading for our senior season to be taken from us so soon. Let's bring our ideas to USASF and be heard! We are the voice of allstar cheerleading! I hope everyone is staying safe and taken this time to be grateful for the things we have. With our busy lives we often overlook the blessings we are given. We will get through this together and God bless you all.
