Recent leaked testimonies we’ve received from our members currently still unlawfully detained in Turkey reveal concerning reports. According to the testimonies, the authorities seem to be deliberately covering up the deplorable conditions the detained members are held in.

Of particular concern is the evident and ongoing medical neglect and lack of adequate medical care, especially for the children, which led to a life threatening condition for one of the detained children.

According to the testimony of a family member of one of the detainees, a child who is suffering from slow gut syndrome has been vomiting green substances. His stomach also appeared to be swollen and his rib cage very visible. The family member reporting the incident, mentions a person she has previously known had the same symptoms and passed away due to this condition. She stresses on the extreme urgency of the situation. 

Cover up actions in deportation center during the visit of an inspection committee

Another testimony from Nadia Ismail, one of the detainees from Iraq, reveals that the situation at the detention center became increasingly unusual. They noticed a heightened focus on cleaning and care of the facility, and the personnel started wearing uniforms and masks, a practice they had not seen before. Additionally, the detainees observed changes in the quality of food. The reason for these changes became apparent when the detained members overheard conversations indicating the arrival of the inspection committee. The testimony clearly showed that the changes were a cover up of the horrific conditions and were only for the purpose of the inspection committee. 

The inspection committee was expected to arrive two days earlier, but they unexpectedly showed up on a Saturday, despite weekends usually being their off days. 

Despite the presence of the inspection committee, they did not communicate directly with the detainees, and their affiliation (whether governmental or non-governmental) and the purpose of their visit remained unknown. The situation remained tense and uncertain as the detainees continued to be closely monitored. 

Another testimony by Algerian member Redouane Foufa revealed that during a family meeting at the center, a man in civilian clothes, later revealed to be from the gendarmerie, started filming the families. Redouane recognized him to be one of the gendarmerie officers who assaulted the group at the Turkish-Bulgarian border. When asked to stop, the man continued filming, and the internal security guards were alerted. However, they refused to intervene, saying they had no authority over the officer. Redouane expressed concern about the lack of safety during family visits and the provocation they experienced. The Head of internal security acknowledged the presence of the officer was illegal but stated he couldn't take any further actions. Redouane urged that the incident be reported to the relevant authorities.

ومما يثير القلق بشكل خاص الإهمال الطبي الواضح والمستمر ونقص الرعاية الطبية الكافية، خاصة للأطفال، مما أدى إلى حالة تهدد حياة أحد الأطفال المحتجزين

وبحسب شهادة أحد أفراد عائلة أحد المعتقلين، فإن الطفل الذي يعاني من خمول بالأمعاء والجهاز الهضمي كان يتقيأ مادة خضراء. وبدا أن بطنه منتفخة وكان القفص الصدري ظاهرًا جدًا. أفادت العائلة التي أبلغت عن الحادث أن شخصًا كانت تعرفه سابقًا يعاني من نفس الأعراض وتوفي بسبب هذه الحالة، كما تؤكد على خطورة الوضع 

شهادة أخرى من نادية إسماعيل، إحدى المعتقلين من العراق، تكشف أن الوضع في مركز الاعتقال أصبح غير عادي بشكل ملحوظ حيث أنهم لاحظوا زيادة التركيز على التنظيف والعناية بالمكان. بدأ الموظفون في ارتداء الزي الرسمي والأقنعة، وهي ممارسة لم يراها المحتجزين في هذا المركز من قبل. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، لاحظ المحتجزون تغيرات في نوعية الطعام. وقد ظهر سبب هذه التغييرات عندما سمع المعتقلون محادثات تشير إلى وصول لجنة التفتيش. وأظهرت الشهادة بوضوح أن التغييرات كانت ستارًا على الظروف المروعة وكانت لغرض لجنة 

التفتيش فقط

كان من المتوقع أن تصل لجنة التفتيش قبل يومين، لكنهم جاءوا بشكل غير متوقع يوم السبت، على الرغم من أنها عطلة نهاية الأسبوع

ورغم زيارة  لجنة التفتيش للمركز إلا أنها لم تتواصل مباشرة مع المحتجزين. الجهة التي يمثلونها (حكومية أو غير حكومية) والغرض من زيارتهم كان غير معروفاً . ظل الوضع متوترًا مع استمرار مراقبة المحتجزين عن كثب

وكشفت شهادة أخرى للعضو الجزائري رضوان فوفا أنه خلال اجتماع عائلي في المركز، بدأ رجل في ثياب مدنية، تبين لاحقًا أنه من الدرك، تصوير العائلات. تعرف عليه رضوان على أنه أحد ضباط الدرك الذين اعتدوا على المجموعة على الحدود التركية البلغارية. وعندما طُلب منه التوقف، واصل الرجل التصوير، وتم تنبيه حراس الأمن الداخلي إلا أنهم رفضوا التدخل قائلين إنه لا سلطة لهم على الضابط. وأعرب رضوان عن قلقه إزاء انعدام الأمان أثناء الزيارات العائلية والاستفزاز الذي تعرض له. اعترف رئيس الأمن الداخلي بأن وجود الضابط غير قانوني لكنه صرح بأنه لا يستطيع اتخاذ أي إجراءات أخرى. حث رضوان على إبلاغ السلطات المختصة بالحادثة
