The Sofia Globe has published an article highlighting the recent major step taken by the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light regarding the urgent situation of its 101 detained members in Turkey.
The report titled “Religious group lodges European court action against Türkiye after pullback at Bulgarian border” reveals that an application for interim measures has been submitted against Turkey at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) following the violent push-back, torture, abuse, and unlawful detention of 101 members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light who were seeking legal asylum at the Turkey-Bulgaria border.
The application was lodged with the support of the Rule 39 initiative at the Italian Coalition for Civil Liberties (CILD). It was put together by a team of 14 people, led by lawyers and experts in the European Court of Human Rights: Dr. Daria Sartori, project leader of the Rule 39 initiative, assisted by Muriel Vicquery.
Work on this application started 14 days ago, and since then the team has been working tirelessly day and night to prepare the application and ensure the human rights of the detained members of the faith are protected.
The Rule 39 initiative is hosted by CILD with the support of DLA Piper, Eversheds Sutherland, Freshfields, Herbert Smith Freehills, Linklaters, Orrick, and Osborne Clarke, and led by Dr Daria Sartori. Since 2021, CILD is hosting, with the support of 8 international law firms, the Rule 39 Initiative for the protection of the human rights of asylum-seekers, refugees and migrants in Europe. Since it began, it has assisted over 300 people and has provided over 3,000 hours of pro bono legal support.

تم تقديم الطلب بدعم من مبادرة القاعدة ٣٩ لدى التحالف الإيطالي للحريات المدنية (سي إل دي)، وتم تجهيزه من قبل فريق مكون من ١٤ شخصاً، بقيادة محامين وخبراء في المحكمة الأوروبية لحقوق الإنسان، الدكتورة داريا سارتوري، رئيسة مشروع مبادرة القاعدة ٣٩، بمساعدة موريل فيكويري. بدأ العمل في هذا الطلب منذ ١٤ يوماً، ومنذ ذلك الحين، يعمل الفريق بلا كلل ليلًا ونهارًا لإعداد الطلب وضمان حماية حقوق الإنسان للمعتقلين من أعضاء الديانة.
