The case of the 104 members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light detained in Turkey is gaining increasing attention and support from media outlets worldwide.
Particularly, Spanish media has been actively highlighting the case and showing strong solidarity. Yesterday Mexican cable TV channel WowmxTV conducted an interview with two members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, Veronica Esponda from Uruguay and Ali Mohammed from Columbia, to shed light on the plight of the detained group. The interview will be aired as part of the show “En Tus Propias Palabras (In Your Own Words)” with host Alejandro Ruíz.
During the interview, Veronica and Ali spoke about the fundamental principles of their faith and beliefs. They provided a detailed account of the group's experience at the border, including the torture and abuse they have endured. They highlighted the illegality of the pushback and violence enacted on the group and spoke about what is expected to provide a solution for those families.
Host, Alejandro Ruíz expressed his shock and was left "lost for words" by the incident. He encouraged the audience to visit the faith's website, follow the organization, and show their support. The show also plans to broadcast the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light’s interview with two UK journalists, Alexandra Foreman and Sermad Al-Khafaji, to their Spanish-speaking audience in Spanish. In the interview, Alexandra and Sermad give firsthand accounts of the violent pushback at the border and the torture they witnessed and experienced.
Furthermore, the interview will be broadcast in Spanish on "Emblemas de Mexico," another media platform that has previously highlighted the case and expressed solidarity with members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light.
