To the Recording Academy,

We, the undersigned, are writing to formally petition for the nomination of Parastou Ahmadi for the prestigious Best Global Music Performance Award at the upcoming Grammy Awards. Parastou Ahmadi is a remarkable artist from Iran whose courage and determination to perform in the face of oppression make her a deserving candidate for this honor.

In Iran, women are prohibited from singing solo in public venues, a restriction that has silenced many talented female artists. Defying these constraints, on December 11th 2024, Parastou Ahmadi along with a full orchestra performed a breathtaking concert with a full orchestra in an empty venue, broadcasted on YouTube. Please see the link at the end of this petition. This powerful act of defiance not only showcased her extraordinary talent but also sent a resounding message when she wrote on her YouTube channel that she will not allow anyone to deprive her of her right to sing in public for the people and in a country that she loves. 

Moreover, during her performance, she chose not to follow the dress code that is imposed by the Iranian regime on women. Her and her band's bravery is an inspiration to many and exemplifies the spirit of resilience that the Grammy Awards seek to celebrate.

After the video of her concert was released, Parastou and her band were summoned by the autarky and their personal belongings have been officiated. 

The Grammy Awards have a history of recognizing the resilience of musicians, as demonstrated by the 2023 Social Change Special Award given to Shervin Hajipour for his song “Baraye,” which resonated deeply with the struggles for freedom in Iran. By honoring artists who bravely confront adversity, the Grammy Awards have proven their commitment to uplifting voices that challenge the status quo.

We believe that Parastou Ahmadi’s performance is not only a remarkable artistic achievement but also a significant statement about freedom and gender equality in the music industry. By nominating her for the Best Global  Music Performance award, the Grammy Awards would not only recognize her exceptional artistry but also honor her commitment to advocating for women's rights and artistic freedom.

ما، امضاکنندگان، این نامه از شما درخواست می کنیم که برای دوره بعد جوابز گرمی، پرستو احمدی را نامزد جایزه معتبر بهترین اجرای بین المللی موسیقی کنید  پرسنو احمدی، هنرمند ایرانی برجسته‌ای است که با شجاعت و اراده‌اش در برابر تبعیض جنسیتی علیه زنان ایستاده است. 

در ایران، چهل و پنج سال است کهذزنان از تک خوانی در کنسرت ها منع شده‌اند، محدودیتی که صدای بسیاری از هنرمندان زن بااستعداد را خاموش کرده است.

پرستو احمدی علیرغم‌وقوف به تبعات اجرای تک صدایی اش ،در تاریخ ۱۱ دسامبر ۲۰۲۴، به همراه  اعضای ارکسترش،  کنسرتی درخشان را  در کاروانسرایی  خالی از مخاطب اجرا کرد که  از طریق یوتیوب پخش شد. لطفاً لینک این کنسرت را در انتهای این درخواست مشاهده کنید. این اقدام شجاعانه نه‌تنها استعداد فوق‌العاده او را به نمایش گذاشت، بلکه پیامی موثر در حمایت از حقوق زنان ایران دربرداشت.

علاوه بر این، او در حین اجرا از قانون حجاب اجباری سرپیچی کرد ‌وبا پوسش اختیاری بر صحنه خالی شد. 

شجاعت او الهام‌بخش بسیاری است و نمایانگر روحیه تاب‌آوری زنان و‌مردان ایرانی است. 

در سال ۲۰۲۳ ، آکادمی  گرمی با اعطای جایزه ویژه به شروین حاجی‌پور برای ترانه «برای» که با مبارزات آزادی‌خواهانه در ایران هم‌خوانی عمیقی داشت، نشان داد که حمایت از هنرمندانی که برای تغییر در جامعه شان تلاش می کنند را جدی می گیرد، هنرمندانی که با شجاعت، قوانین تبعیضی  را به چالش می کشند. 

ما بر این باوریم که اجرای پرستو احمدی نه‌تنها یک دستاورد هنری شگفت‌انگیز است، بلکه بیان‌گر پیامی مهم درباره آزادی و برابری جنسیتی در صنعت موسیقی جهان  است. با ‌اعلام نامزدی او برای جایزه بهترین اجرای بین‌المللی موسیقی، آکادمی نه‌تنها هنر استثنایی او را شناسایی می‌کنند، بلکه به تعهد او در حمایت از حقوق زنان و آزادی بیان هنری احترام می‌گذارند.
