We are all aware of the current disastrous situation for Iranians. There are many Iranians who live in Iran and have made visa applications to migrate to Australia. Some of these applications have been before the department of Home Affairs for over 2 years. There are also many Iranians who are in Australia on temporary visas but due to the current circumstances cannot or would not wish to return to Iran as they fear for their lives.

We ask the Australian government to help Iranians by: 

1-    Prioritising the processing of their visa applications (especially for those who reside in Iran). This is of particular importance for those who have applied for partner, child, parent or similar types of family visas in hope that they can join their family members in Australia. 

2-    Offering special visa pathways to those who currently reside in Australia.  

The current situation in Iran in many aspects is similar to that of Hong Kong two years ago and we know that the Australian government introduced specific visa pathways to Hong Kong citizens. We request and expect similar treatment for Iranians.
