J Street chapters on at least two college campuses have launched campaigns to pressure the U.S. government to cut off critical military assistance to Israel.

They are falsely accusing Israel of using American aid to “commit human rights violations” and spreading all sorts of misinformation about the Jewish State. J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami has publicly defended U.S. military assistance to the Israeli Defense Forces in the past. Is it now J Street’s policy to oppose foreign aid to Israel?

Foreign aid to Israel is one of the few bipartisan consensus issues left in Washington. The U.S. House of Representatives just voted 420-9 to authorize additional funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system, which protects civilians from terrorist attacks.

So why are J Street chapters pushing to defund Israel? 

According to its mission statement, J Street supports “pro-Israel and pro-peace” U.S. policies to help secure the State of Israel as a democratic homeland for the Jewish people.

Has J Street finally taken off its mask?
