Nicole, a Syrian trans woman, was on her way to Canada, thinking she was finally going to be safe. But during a layover in Türkiye, Canada revoked her refugee status, leaving her stranded in Istanbul Airport for over seven months. Now, Türkiye is going to deport her to Syria by October 2, 2024, where her life will be in serious danger because of the violence LGBTQ+ people face there.

Canada completely abandoned her. They let her think she was safe, then pulled the rug out from under her, leaving her to fend for herself. This is beyond unethical; it’s reckless, and it’s deadly. 

We’re demanding that Canada fix this now. They need to step up and give Nicole the protection they promised. Deporting her to Syria isn’t just cruel—it could get her killed.
