1. Submit Your Official Public Comment to the DEA
Two Ways to Do It - Every Comment Matters
**NEW GUIDANCE** We have received further guidance about how to best submit comments to have them counted and considered: we need every person to submit a UNIQUE comment.
DO NOT USE A TEMPLATE LETTER. We are asking everyone to submit a personalized comment, either through the SSDP’s tool, or the official federal portal using the steps below.
We want every single comment made to be counted and templated letters get overlooked. Please write your own comments. Comments do not need to be long at all - could be just a couple of lines about your story - but unique letters are REQUIRED to break through the noise.
When writing your comment:
- Share your personal story and why 7-OH matters to you.
- Explain how 7-OH has impacted your life.
- If you're comfortable, include the milligram amount you typically use per serving or per day. This information is especially important because the DEA is seeking comments on the proposed threshold.

Please only submit ONE comment per person or organization and try to include all of your story and comments in one submission.
How to Submit Your Comment
Option 1 - Direct on HHS Comment Portal
- Prepare your letter beforehand using your personal story and our suggested talking points. They should be UNIQUE and in your own words.
- Click the "Submit Your Comment" button on our Federal Action Page.
- Click the blue "Open for Comments" button.
- Select "Comment" under the notice titled:
- "OASH Request for Information: Temporary Placement of 7-Hydroxymitragynine Above a Specific Threshold in Schedule I."
- Paste your comment or upload it as a PDF or Word document.
- Enter your email address.
- Select "Individual" (or "Anonymous" if you prefer).
- If you selected Individual, complete your contact information and submit.

Option 2 - Use the SSDP Tool
Our advocacy partner, Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), has created a tool that automatically generates a comment letter for you.
If you use this method, you MUST personalize the letter before submitting it. Personal stories carry far more weight than identical form letters.
This is the best way to make your voice heard.

Webinar Recap: Thank You for Standing With Us
Last Tuesday night, 7/7, more than 2,200 registrants, including consumers, advocates, researchers, healthcare professionals, business owners, and coalition partners came together for the largest virtual gathering in 7-HOPE Alliance history.
The incredible turnout and tens of thousands of comments throughout the evening sent a clear message:
This community is united, organized, and ready to fight for responsible regulation and consumer access.

What We Covered
During the National Response Call, attendees heard from:
- Jackie Subeck, Executive Director of 7-HOPE Alliance, who explained the recent federal announcement and outlined our national response strategy.
- Dr. Michele Ross, Scientific Advisor to 7-HOPE Alliance, who shared highlights from our national consumer survey.
- Elena Lyman, Drug Policy Advisor, who walked advocates through our coordinated federal advocacy campaign and public comment strategy.
