PETITIONERS! Our message has been sent! Deeply felt thanks to all of you who not only took the time to think about this issue, but went beyond with a signature, a comment, and letters to the Board of Supervisors. I hope to see some of you tomorrow at the meeting.

SHOW UP IN PERSON: October 29, BOS Chambers: Room 330 at the Marin County Civic Center at 1:30

Our involvement in county process is critical at this time, as the state is relentless, now passing hundreds of laws that dismantle our ability to make good planning decisions about how our communities develop. The undermining of community plans has been a perfect example.

The state governs by threat to cities and counties if they don’t grant quick access to for-profit developers. Fear based governance is anti-democratic, and we are feeling it at the most local level.

Our elected Supervisors need to know we are watching and expect them to make good decisions on our behalf. When they ignore the advice of their expert Planning Commission, and instead follow direction from unelected staff, we end up giving up more than is required.

Let’s hope that our Supervisors listen to us, and follow the simple example set by the Planning Commission.

Best,

Amy
