The Issue

Dear Members of Parliament, Cabinet, and Prime Minister,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern and opposition to the potential decision by the federal government to grant a visa to Eshaq Ghalibaf, the son of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the current Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic regime of Iran.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, with his involvement in the Iranian Police Forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and his alleged responsibility for the torture and death of many Iranians, represents a key figure in the oppressive regime in Iran. Granting a visa to his son, Eshaq Ghalibaf, raises serious ethical and moral concerns.

As proud Iranian-Canadians who stand for freedom and democracy in Iran, we find it unimaginable that Canada would consider welcoming the son of such a warmonger, who, along with his father and family, has allegedly participated in money laundering and other corrupt activities.

We believe that issuing a visa to Eshaq Ghalibaf would not only be a disregard for the values Canada upholds but also a betrayal to the Iranian-Canadian community, especially those who strive for a free and democratic Iran.

We urge you to abandon this decision and similar cases, and stand against any potential actions that may undermine the principles of justice, freedom, and human rights. Allowing members of the dictatorship in Iran and their affiliates to enjoy freedom in Canada while they suppress Iranians and ruin the economy and environment of that proud country is unacceptable. Canada has a long-standing commitment to these values, and it is crucial that we do not compromise them by providing a platform for individuals associated with oppressive regimes.

We trust that you will carefully consider our concerns and take the necessary steps to prevent any endorsement of individuals associated with human rights violations and corruption.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to your commitment to upholding the values that make Canada a beacon of democracy and justice.

Sincerely,

Amir Abolhassani and all concerned signatures
