The recent ongoing war in Sudan has had a direct impact on students studying in the country. Many of them have reported incidents of violence and harassment by local Sudanese citizens, as well as difficulties accessing basic necessities like food, water, and medical care. The situation has become so dire that many students started calling for urgent evacuation from the country. But the Nigerian students were left behind. A community of young poets (TrueMyVoice community) came together and reached out to team Nigeria and GOTP’d the petition after seeing a video that was made by one of the students in sudan. Team Nigeria reached out to an influencer, made a video, then team Nigeria started making active efforts in reaching out to decision makers, which led to a call with the minister of foreign affairs and this escalated the entire issue and team Nigeria kept following up. We are pleased to inform you that all the students have been evacuated.
