The petition was taken up by change.org who were able to see that it got the attention of the minister of foreign affairs, H.E. Geoffrey Onyeama, who saw to it that actions were sped-up to facilitate evacuation efforts. 

Last week, the first batch of the students were evacuated by Buses to Egypt, and from there, they would be airlifted back to Nigeria. 

The Buses have also gone back for the remaining students who might still be left in Sudan.
