Dear supporters,
Yesterday, a cross-party amendment to protect refugee family reunion was passed in the Lords! This is really positive news for the future of refugee family reunion in the UK.
The vote is now going back to the Commons, and we need to make sure that MPs vote to protect family reunion.
Will you write to your MP to ask them to support the family reunion amendment? It only takes a few minutes - use Safe Passage's tool in the link to write.
We are running out of time to reunite child refugees with their families - on January 1st, the scheme as we know it is ending. As it stands, child refugees will have fewer rights and will be much less likely to be able to reunite with their families in the UK after the end of the transition period, with plans for the scheme to made discretionary, and with no appeals.
These are people's lives, people's families: right now, I have a good friend whose young brother is stuck in Greece - I can't tell her for sure that she will be reunited with him and be able to look after him, because everything could change in just three months. After that, we don't know what will happen.
Please write to your MP if you can.
Many thanks for your continued support!
Melissa
