Urgent help needed to BUILD THE POOL!!!

The Issue

Bearcat Community,

We NEED your support NOW to BUILD THE POOL at the High School!

We have until February 6th, 2024, to show the Paso Robles School District our community WANTS the pool on campus at PRHS so they will add it to their agenda as an action item for the Feb 13th meeting.

We are in danger of losing the contracted bid to build the pool for the GUARANTEED MAXIMUM - FIXED PRICE it was approved as! Please don’t let this happen by signing this petition NOW!

For over 30 years, our Aquatic Bearcats and our community have been promised a pool at Paso Robles High School. For over 30 years this promise has been placed on the school board’s agenda numerous times. The Bearcat community attends the school board meetings for each of these events with the expectation of an approval for the commitment from Measure “M”.

This promise has been repeatedly broken, leaving our community with distrust for our elected board members. Our students are having to use an unsafe facility at the municipal pool, leaving our district and community vulnerable to safety and legal ramifications. In many cases, our students are being lured to other surrounding area schools due to the lack of respectable conditions and access to sport facilities, which contributes to the decrease in student enrollment at Paso Robles High School.

This is not just about swimming/water polo/diving; it’s about trust and fulfilling those commitments made under Measure “M” funds. The school board’s continuous neglect of this issue has led to a loss of faith among not only the voters of our community, but most importantly our young impressionable students at Paso Robles High School. Don’t let future bonds be in jeopardy by breaking the promise once again!

Our community has watched the majority of past and present school board members continuously ignore the voices of the voters and although we understand the difficult decisions the current board has, it is time for OUR BEARCAT COMMUNITY to say enough is enough!

• The pool design has been approved by the district and has been paid for.

• The Revised Aquatics Complex has DSA approval to move forward RIGHT NOW!

• The District has 11 million set aside for the estimated 16 million cost of the pool.

• The difficult decision has been made for the 36th St. (Georgia Brown) campus to be vacated, and a portion of THOSE funds can be allocated to make up the difference of the up to 16 million for the pool cost. This is a fixed cost that CANNOT get higher as long as we get approved at the Feb 13th meeting.

• The contractor has stated they would honor the bid only a few days beyond the 60-day expiration, which is in February, if the school board would still approve this. That would save THOUSANDS of dollars and guaranteed increased rates if we can avoid starting this process all over again.

This district has already spent over $2 million dollars investing in the pool, designs, plans, approvals, and more and they should NOT make this a waste of money!!!!

EVERYTHING IS APPROVED! THE MONEY IS AVAILABLE AND CAN BE ALLOCATED RIGHT NOW!

Let’s BUILD THE POOL our community voted for!
