Petition updateURGENT! Fukushima Radioactive Fallout Food Safety PetitionCorrection: Fukushima at Five Years and Counting ~ Why We Won't Forget

As a signer of the first food safety petition, you knew long ago that the impact of Fukushima would be devastating and lasting. Thanks to your support the petition is still active, along with others created by the Fukushima Fallout Awareness Network. The Asia-Pacific Journal ruefully observed that 5 years of Fukushima marks the beginning of forgetting. Given our history of collective amnesia supported by an all too complacent media, it’s easy to believe that prediction could be true. But today consumers are too savvy and the internet far too reaching for any real forgetting to stick.
Justice for Japan?
After 5 years of the citizen fight for justice, 3 former TEPCO executives were recently indicted for professional negligence in their handling of the Fukushima Daiichi ongoing catastrophe. Prosecutors state that the execs were warned as recently as 2009 that a tsunami wave could breach the barrier wall and we all know what happened next. Although it’s doubtful the TEPCO Three will serve jail time, a clear message has been beamed to the owners and operators of the 54 nuclear reactors lining Japan’s coastline and awaiting restart under Shinzo Abe’s aggressive actions.
Mass Incineration Beginning On-Site Now.
Anyone who fancies that Fukushima was “then, 5 years ago” needs a quick reality check. At almost the same moment the indictments were handed down, TEPCO announced that they were firing up one of two massive on-site incinerators. Starting with Tyvek suits followed by 14 tons of radioactive toxic waste garbage, soil, and more per DAY indefinitely. TEPCO is determined to burn 90% of all waste on-site once the second incinerator starts up. What they plan to do with the remaining 10% is anyone’s guess and based on TEPCO's record it’s safe to assume it will be burned as well. If you’ve ever seen an aerial view of Fukushima Daiichi, it’s an overwhelming prospect. TEPCO promises that the incinerators will be outfitted with special scrubbers to capture radionuclides and that the ash will be stored in a secure location. Will even more indictments be handed down later?
So, no matter how tempting it is to forget, we simply don’t have that luxury. As a nutrition educator, I’ve had to completely reevaluate everything I ever learned about organic, free range, grass fed and wild caught. The entire concept of a “clean diet” was turned upside down by Fukushima. When we are honest and confront the nuclear industry’s potential overall impact on our food supply, we know that we can’t forget. Not for a minute. We must hasten to renewable energy as soon as possible and only then do we truly have justice.
In the nuclear age, it’s all about adapting, and mindfulness matters. We can take proactive measures to help safeguard our loved ones and ourselves. Check out the free report here at http://raptawareness.com/. When you do, you can have the option of receiving regular updates.
Thank you so much for your continued support of the petition as the work continues. Please take a minute to share it today.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Roberson
