**Petition to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah**

**Subject**: Urgent Demand for Decisive Action to Restore Peace and Order in West Bengal

We, the undersigned citizens of India, come together with a heavy heart and resolute determination to demand your immediate intervention to address the deteriorating situation in West Bengal. As the guardians of our nation’s unity, security, and constitutional values, your leadership is a beacon of hope for millions who rely on you to uphold the rule of law and ensure peace across our diverse land. We urgently call upon you to take decisive action to restore order and tranquility in West Bengal, a state plagued by recurring turmoil that threatens the very fabric of our democracy.

As the Ahimsa / non violence campaign once inspired us, “True leadership is not about waiting for calm seas but about steering the ship through the storm.” These words compel us to demand bold and immediate action to guide West Bengal out of its current crisis.

West Bengal, a land renowned for its rich cultural heritage and intellectual legacy, is scarred by incidents that erode the safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of its people. Reports of violence, lawlessness, and unchecked aggression have fostered an atmosphere of fear and despair. The state’s machinery, entrusted with protecting its citizens, appears either overwhelmed or, worse, complicit in failing to curb these disturbances. This is unacceptable in a nation that champions unity in diversity and the strength of its democratic institutions.

We acknowledge the complexities of governance and the challenges of maintaining harmony in a state with a vibrant political landscape. However, persistence of unrest signals a deeper crisis that requires extraordinary measures. The people of West Bengal deserve to live without fear, exercise their rights freely, and trust that their government—both at the state and central levels—will prioritize their safety above all else.

We, the petitioners, earnestly demand the following actions to enforce peace by any lawful means necessary:

1. **Strengthen Law Enforcement Presence**: Deploy adequate central forces, if required, to restore confidence among citizens and deter those who seek to disrupt peace. A visible and impartial security presence must serve as a bulwark against further escalation.

2. **Ensure Accountability**: Order a thorough and transparent investigation into incidents of violence and lawlessness. Those responsible, regardless of affiliation, must face swift justice to send an unequivocal message that impunity will not be tolerated.

3. **Engage All Stakeholders**: Facilitate dialogue with all political and community leaders to de-escalate tensions. A united front against violence, backed by your moral authority, can pave the way for lasting peace.

4. **Uphold Constitutional Duty**: Should the state machinery continue to falter, explore all constitutional options to ensure governance aligns with the principles of justice, liberty, and equality. The people’s faith in democratic institutions must be preserved at all costs.

5. **Protect Vulnerable Communities**: Implement proactive measures to safeguard marginalized groups, ensuring they are neither targeted nor caught in the crossfire of unrest. Their safety is a litmus test for our collective conscience.

Hon’ble Prime Minister and Home Minister, your proven record of bold decision-making gives us confidence that you will address this crisis with the urgency it demands. The nation has witnessed your resolve in tackling challenges—be it economic reforms, national security, or disaster response. We trust you will apply the same determination to bring peace to West Bengal, sparing no effort to protect its people and restore their faith in the idea of India.

We recognize the political sensitivities involved, but the call for peace transcends partisan lines. The nation watches, and history will judge us not by our intentions but by our actions. Let it be recorded that when West Bengal needed its leaders most, you stood firm, acted decisively, and delivered justice.

Through this petition, we collectively demand your immediate attention to this crisis and pledge our unwavering support for any lawful measures you undertake to restore peace. The people of West Bengal, and indeed all of India, deserve nothing less.

**We, the undersigned, urge you to act now.**
