I wanted to inform you that the petition demanding the American Angus Association return the $4.85 million to the Bezos Earth Fund is now closed. Thank you sincerely for your participation and support. Your involvement has been valuable, and I will be sharing the results with the AAA board.

Regrettably, before the petition closed, we learned that the AAA board voted unanimously to retain the funds. We strongly oppose this decision. The core of their reasoning centered on efficiency, but many of us believe this is a disingenuous justification. Researching methane emissions under the guise of efficiency, while accepting funding from a globalist organization with a stated mission to reduce animal agriculture, is problematic. The narrative surrounding methane’s impact on “global warming” or “climate change” is, in my view, a hoax, and by accepting this money, the AAA is validating that narrative. Further, what happens with this data and how it is used by this dangerous partnership to push their methane agenda in the future is something that we cannot gamble with.

Angus is the leader in the beef industry and we need to act like it. Taking this money is taking the easy way out to appease global activists in the short-term. But the long-term repercussions likely will wreak havoc on the entire US cattle industry for decades to come.

We urge the AAA to reconsider their stance and to engage with their membership by bringing together breeders from across the country for an open round table discussion. Before we prematurely take a seat at the table with the Bezos Earth Fund, why don’t we sit down at the table with our own membership? It’s not too late to do the right thing—and listening to the voices of those who are directly involved in the industry (not just those in the boardroom), would be a great start.

Thank you again for standing with us.

Sincerely,

Brian Palmer
