We are members of the local community, speaking out in support of the hardworking staff and safety of customers at our local COOP store in New Eltham Village.  370-380 Footscray Road, London, SE9 2AA

This store is being targeted by shoplifters daily, with hundreds of pounds in goods stolen each week. Currently, security staff are only present one or two days a week — leaving the store vulnerable and employees exposed to potential threats, aggression, and even robbery.

This is not just a matter of lost stock — it’s a serious safety issue.

The people who work at our local COOP deserve to feel safe and protected at all times. Customers also deserve a shopping environment that is secure and free from fear of criminal behaviour.

We are calling on the COOP Head Office to take immediate and responsible action by:

✅ Providing full-time, on-site security during all store opening hours

✅ Actively working to deter theft and antisocial behaviour

✅ Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all employees and shoppers
