Mr. Mohammad Nourizad,

A civil rights activist and human rights defender, is enduring severe mistreatment during his tenth year of imprisonment in Evin Prison, Iran.

Mr. Nourizad has been unjustly incarcerated solely for his peaceful advocacy for freedom and human rights. Recently, after protesting against drug trafficking networks operating within the prison, he was subjected to cruel and inhumane treatment. He was transferred to solitary confinement with his hands and feet chained and forced to endure two nights and three days in freezing temperatures. Currently, he is on a hunger and medication strike, leaving him in critical condition and at imminent risk of grave harm.

We strongly condemn this blatant violation of international human rights norms and standards. Such treatment constitutes a clear breach of the United Nations’ Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (the Mandela Rules) and Iran’s obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

We hold the prison authorities and Iranian officials accountable for any harm that may come to Mr. Nourizad as a result of this mistreatment and demand his immediate and unconditional release to allow him access to life-saving medical care.

In light of the urgency of this matter, we respectfully request your esteemed organization to:

1. Publicly condemn the unlawful and inhumane treatment of Mr. Nourizad and other political prisoners in Iran.

2. Urge the Iranian government to comply with its international human rights obligations.

3. Advocate for the immediate release of Mr. Nourizad to enable him to receive the necessary medical treatment

Swift intervention by the international community is essential to safeguard the life and dignity of Mr. Nourizad and ensure accountability for the ongoing human rights violations in Iran.

محمد نوری‌زاد،فعال مدنی و مدافع حقوق بشر، که در دهمین سال حبس خود در زندان اوین ایران به سر می‌برد، بدرفتاری‌های شدیدی را تحمل می‌کند.

آقای نوری‌زاد تنها به دلیل فعالیت‌های مسالمت‌آمیز خود در دفاع از آزادی و حقوق بشر به‌طور ناعادلانه زندانی شده است. اخیراً، پس از اعتراض به شبکه‌های قاچاق مواد مخدر در داخل زندان، وی مورد رفتارهای بی‌رحمانه و غیرانسانی قرار گرفته است. ایشان با دست و پای زنجیر شده به سلول انفرادی منتقل شده و مجبور شده است دو شب و سه روز را در سرمای شدید سپری کند. در حال حاضر، او در اعتصاب غذا و دارو به سر می‌برد و وضعیت جسمی بحرانی و در معرض خطر جدی قرار دارد.

ما این نقض آشکار استانداردها و اصول بین‌المللی حقوق بشر را به شدت محکوم می‌کنیم. این رفتار نقض آشکار «قوانین استاندارد حداقل سازمان ملل برای رفتار با زندانیان» (قوانین ماندلا) و تعهدات ایران تحت «میثاق بین‌المللی حقوق مدنی و سیاسی» است.

ما مسئولیت هرگونه آسیب به آقای نوری‌زاد را متوجه مسئولین زندان و مقامات ایرانی می‌دانیم و خواستار آزادی فوری و بدون قید و شرط ایشان برای دریافت مراقبت‌های ضروری پزشکی هستیم.

با توجه به فوریت این موضوع، از سازمان محترم شما درخواست می‌کنیم:

1. رفتار غیرقانونی و غیرانسانی با آقای نوری‌زاد و سایر زندانیان سیاسی در ایران را به‌طور عمومی محکوم کنید.

2. از دولت ایران بخواهید به تعهدات بین‌المللی حقوق بشری خود پایبند باشد.

3. برای آزادی فوری آقای نوری‌زاد جهت دریافت درمان پزشکی لازم، تلاش و مداخله کنید.

مداخله سریع جامعه بین‌المللی برای حفاظت از جان و کرامت آقای نوری‌زاد و همچنین پاسخگویی در قبال نقض مداوم حقوق بشر در ایران حیاتی است.
