Maryam’s health has taken another heartbreaking turn.

Over the past weeks, her body has become so weak and malnourished despite eating, that all of her hair has now fallen out. She is increasingly camera-shy because she no longer recognises herself in the mirror. The deterioration is rapid, and preventable.

Maryam remains on the WHO medical evacuation list, fully approved for treatment abroad, yet no country has stepped forward to accept her. Every day that passes is a day her small body fights without the medical care she urgently needs.

Her intestines are no longer absorbing nutrients due to untreated celiac disease, and she is suffering from severe malnutrition and osteoporosis, leaving her bones fragile and in pain. Two other children in Gaza with the same condition, also cleared for evacuation, have recently died while waiting.

We cannot allow Maryam to be next.
